"In 1991, something happened to me that changed my life forever," remembers Dr. James (Jay) Weber.  "Back then, I was playing college football at a small Southern California university.  It was my sophomore year, and I developed a constant burning pain in my mid-back and shoulders.  I had difficulty raising my arms above my head due to the shoulder problems, and the pain in my back became so intense that I couldn't run anymore - at times I could barely even walk.  All of this, I later discovered, was due to 6 spinal fractures that had developed from the constant pounding of 12 years of playing football."

"I tried all of the traditional approaches to heal my injuries," continues Dr. Jay.  "Pain pills, anti-inflammation medication, physical therapy, etc. didn't work for me.  I was only 19 years old and I was scared!"

"A coach of mine convinced me to give a doctor friend of his a try.  This doctor, who was a chiropractor, did an exam on me and then adjusted my spine.  IT WORKED!!"  smiled Dr. Jay.  "The adjustment didn't hurt - it actually felt good.  Not only did I get relief, but within a week I was running again with an added energy that I hadn't felt in years.  I was able to play 7 football games that year and helped lead my team to a share of the conference championship.  I even ran a triathlon 6 months later and finished 4th in my age group.  The adjustment worked so well that I decided to go to chiropractic school myself."

Dr. Jay was accepted at Life College of Chiropractic in Marrietta, Georgia (just north of Atlanta).  During his four years at Life, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Life College Public Clinic.  After graduating in 1996, Dr. Jay returned to Orange County to establish his practice.

"The choice I made to go to Atlanta for chiropractic school was one of the best decisions I have ever made,"  states Dr. Jay.  "At that time Life College was the biggest and best chiropractic school in the world.  There is no way that I would have the same philosophy or healing skills that I have today if it were not for the great learning environment at Life."

Dr. Jay is married to Danielle and they have two daughters, Jeni and Joy, and a son, Dane.  The Weber's love living a natural, holistic lifestyle (if that sounds interesting, be sure to ask Dr. Jay to explain!).  In their free time, the Weber family enjoys going to the beach, swimming at grandma's house, hiking at Peter's Canyon, attending an Angel game or going on walks around their neighborhood with Junior the Wonder Dog.

Reading, trail running, surfing and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers keeps Dr. Jay busy during his personal time.  "Running and surfing really help to keep me in shape physically and allow me to stay mentally grounded throughout the week," claims Dr. Jay.  "I also have developed a passion for reading and studying anything that deals with the topic of elevating human potential.  I have integrated these teachings into my adjusting technique, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the life-changing results that we are seeing with our clients."

The Weber's enjoy giving back to their community as they have been active members of the Rotary Club of Tustin since 1998.  Dr. Jay served as the club's president during the 2004-2005 centennial celebration year.  "The Rotary Club allows us to do good things for good people, not only in the Tustin area, but all over the world," smiled Dr. Jay.  "It is truly an amazing organization to be a part of."

Dr. Jay Asks some important questions of interest to Tustin residents - Chiropractor Tustin Dr. Jay Asks...

Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognize two types of nerve disorders involved in subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
Is chiropractic safe?
What do you consider safe? Chiropractic care is safer than driving your car on the streets of Tustin, getting back surgery, taking aspirin and even safer than taking a shower in your own home! Compared with things we accept as safe, chiropractic care is even safer. Ready to get started? Call our office today.
